AfroJazz band Helele to record at Andersonshelta

Alphonse Dudet, Cameroonian Balafon player, percussionist and musical educator is to produce his latest CD at Andertsonshelta in November.

Continuing our Cameroonian connection (cf Charlie Asaah Papa's Graffi Jazz in the 80's)percussionist Alphonse brings his Helele Band into Andersonshelta this month to complete his first UK CD.

The basic tracks have been recorded live and he will be adding overdubs, sax and vocals, mixing and producing his CD, with our own Marco Anderson behind the Traps and in the Producer's chair.

The music is an uplifting and dancable mixture of Afro beats, individual Cameroon-style Balafon compositions and jazz improvisations.

Alphonse has been in this country for a couple of years and has quickly established himself as a great educator and communicator, teaching instrument making (primarily Balafon and Djembe) to school children and adults alike through his Sul'Art project

The Helele band will be performing extensively in festivals and art centres around the UK next summer, promoting this CD.Details of the itinerary will be published on this site so check back in the new year.
